Special Education Services
Are you concerned that your child may be lacking skills they need for school? Do they seem "behind" their friends in skills such as speaking, coloring, fine motor skills or getting along with other children? Your child may qualify to receive special education services at no cost to the family!
North Lawrence Community Schools offers the Early Journeys Developmental Preschool program with special education services for students that qualify. Transportation opportunities may be available for students receiving specific recommended special education services.
If your child is three years of age up to pre-k, please reach out with questions.

What If My Child is Not Yet 3-years-old?
Indiana’s First Steps System was created to help Hoosier families make sure their infants and toddlers receive services to help them in the future.
First Steps brings together families with a local network of professionals from education, health and social service agencies. Services are coordinated to give children the widest possible array of early intervention resources. First Steps is available in every county in Indiana.
Families who are eligible to participate in Indiana’s First Steps System include those with children ages birth to three years old who:
- Are experiencing developmental delays.
- Have a diagnosed condition that has a high probability of resulting in a developmental delay.
